My Buddy has this JDM RHD 1996 Honda Integra Type-R it has 114000km's(71250 miles) and it is 100% original no mods what so ever(still has original tape deck) it is totally unmolested and in perfect shape.
He never uses is as he is way more into bikes(he has 9 bikes at the moment). He told me he would be willing to part with it for about $8500.00 what do you guys think? I think it's a steal considering the condition but I could be wrong.
I'm waiting for my house to be complete so I wouldn't buy it until October, then I would have a place to store it.
the car is not "for sale" but he would sell it to his good friend(that's me BTW) so he has no issues hanging on to it until my house is ready.
EDIT: This is in Canada so the car is 100% legal

I would do it if I were you

I've been thinking about it for over a year. I think once my house is done I will probably pull the trigger.

I actually drove an Integra of THAT generation (not a type R) and well, if it wasn't for the high crime rate, I would actually buy one. Or a Prelude.

do it

Can.....can I uh.....Can I "borrow" it for the summer? I can buy the car for the agreed on price and then you pay me the money to get it from me. I'll let you get some seat time at SCCA autocross events in Michigan. It will be in Grand Rapids, MI until you buy it off of me.

That's a really good deal considering all the real Type RS here are over 10k. All stock is a plus too! Pretty low mileage as well.

Original USDM cars go for a full 25% more at the very least. Hell yes this is a great deal - they cost about that much in Japan before shipping.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 06:07 |

Since it's Canada, go for it!
![]() 03/21/2014 at 06:20 |

You may as well just look for an actual '98-spec with the 5-lugs, revised cams, etc. That said, I realize a car you can actually inspect yourself is much better than something coming in a container you hope ends up like it's advertised.

You're a lucky guy. I still dream of having one of these some day. If he was local to me, I'd buy it by out bidding you.

NP and keep it stock if you end up with it!
![]() 03/21/2014 at 06:53 |

NP!
![]() 03/21/2014 at 07:03 |

Do it! I'm not a huge fan of the Accord looking front end, but it's a Type-R for 8500!
![]() 03/21/2014 at 07:25 |

Really??? Around here Intergra's aren't all that much. Mind you most have 320,000 kms or so.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 08:24 |

Holy shit yes, you can have one of the greatest N/A FWD cars ever and/or sell it to an American in...seven years for a huge profit.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 09:50 |
|
8500 for a car that in a few years will be worth twice that .. I see these cars eventually getting in the 30k range it will just take a few decades to do it .
![]() 03/21/2014 at 10:20 |

Agreed, for a clean ITR in the states you can look to spend between 14-18k depending on mileage and mods. If that were legal here and it was my friend I would be writing him a check right now. Jump on it!
Here is a link to current cars for sale in the US just to get an idea on pricing. Plus that specific car is JDM Yo!

hows about NO! I will make sure you don't get a hold of it. It needs to stay in mint condition.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 10:51 |
|
yeah these are fantastic to drive. even better than what you drove. they don't call it the best handling FWD ever made for nothing
![]() 03/21/2014 at 10:56 |
|
I can put some mint air fresheners in it!
![]() 03/21/2014 at 10:56 |
|
I know the 98+ are nicer but this is what he has so I can't be super picky. I know I could import my own but this one is here and ready to go.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 10:59 |
|
I sure hope you are right. this for me will be a weekend toy only so I should be able to keep it in this condition and maybe flip it in a few years. but I would more than likely keep it for ever. it be neat to see something this on the road in 25-30 years.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:00 |

not a bad idea I had never thought of that possibility. those americans will buy anything...lol
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:02 |
|
it's funny you mention that, I think you are one of the few that likes the bug eyed look(hence the screen name) I remember people paying big bucks to import a front clip to do the JDM front end conversion. I personally love the "Accord looking front end"
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:03 |

A vast majority of the USDM Acura Type R's were either a.) riced and wrecked beyond saving in street races or b.) purchased by SCCA/NASA members and beaten to hell and back on autocrosses and wheel-to-wheel racing. Also, JDM as fuck yo, so it'll sell like hotcakes once it turns 25.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:03 |

All stock is definitely a plus. I would have no interest in buying a modified one. this will keep it's value, a modified one not so much.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:06 |
|
there is a big difference between an Integra and a Type R. The Type R is worth at least twice what a GSR would sell for.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:11 |
|
I just checked the link the prices are pretty absurd and most of these have salvage titles? are they nuts?
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:13 |
|
they are definitely over priced in the states for sure. all these kids are asking 12-14K for a high mileage riced out car WITH SALVAGE TITLES!!! mods don't add value if any thing they deduct value
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:14 |
|
GSR listed for $1900

![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:15 |

it will stay stock for sure! it's the only way to keep a car like this
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:15 |
|
probably will
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:16 |
|
What do you mean by "since it's Canada"? but I will most likely get it
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:17 |
|
Keep your chin up I might sell it to you one day.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:19 |
|
not a bad price for that car but it's not Rust free low mileage Type-R
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:20 |
|
Yeah as I mentioned most integra's around here have usually seen a lot of miles, not sure why that was. driving enthusiasts. A Lot less for sale now then when I looked for my car two years ago.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:29 |
|
I know I just checked autotrader and there is not one single Type-R for sale
![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:37 |
|
This is the only one I saw anywhere near here. In your price range for sure. I hope I didn't insult you, I just found it hard to believe that they are becoming worth that much, especially as most of these were driven pretty hard. If it's worth it, go for it.

![]() 03/21/2014 at 11:57 |

No no don't worry I'm not insulted. just so you know the one you just posted is NOT a real Type-R(read the description RS with Type R motor) and has absolutely no collectible value at all.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 12:03 |
|
Don't get me wrong. I appreciate that it's a much cleaner look, but I loved how distinctive my car looked with the bugeyes. And before you get offended that I said it looks like an Accord, here's a 96 Accord Coupe:
![]() 03/21/2014 at 12:08 |
|
You're right it does look like the accord. to each his own I respect your opinion. Thanks for the input.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 12:31 |

Since it's legal to register that would make it worth it
![]() 03/21/2014 at 12:58 |
|
Good to know. I didn't read all the text because I am not going to be buying this car haha.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 13:15 |
|
I'm pretty sure I will take it off his hands. It will give him space for more bikes.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 13:47 |

where in canada? I'm in the GTA to hang if you want
![]() 03/21/2014 at 14:48 |

Edmonton,AB if you're ever in this neck of the woods we'll go grab a beer or something.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 14:49 |

well if you put it that way...NO! haha
![]() 03/21/2014 at 14:52 |

hmm. i DID want to do a motorcycle road trip this summer.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 16:17 |

To be fair, they imported under 4,000 over four years so they're very rare and very desirable. Theft and crashes from over-zealous driving have further thinned the ranks to an even smaller handful.
![]() 03/23/2014 at 00:18 |
|
Personally, I think so but who knows. I guess there is a demand for them. I would rather have an s2000 but thats just me (I'm a bit bias)
![]() 10/14/2015 at 15:18 |

You need this. A lot.
